The General Direction of Inside, Emergencies and Justice and the Military Unit of Emergencies prepare the new season

The Military Unit of Emergencies and the General Direction of Inside|Inland, Emergencies and Justice have celebrated the first meeting of coordination in order to the next season of risk of fires and other accidents that can require the intervention from the UME. Along 2011, the Military Unit of Emergencies acted in 50 cases in all the national territory, of which 46 would be fires, 3 were incidents derived from floods and one by the consequences of the storms of winter. Of these performances|actions, 5 developed in the Balearic Islands and all were to act in the fires stated among|between the months of May and September 2011 (precisely, they collaborated in the extinction of a fire to|in Sant Joan de Labritja, of two in Calvià, of one in Peguera and of one in Santa Eulàlia.

The intervention of the Military Unit of Emergencies in the Balearic Islands falls|relapses, for geographical distribution, on the BIEM III -with basis in Bètera, València- and that it has an endowment of cash that it|he|she exceeds the half a thousand of persons. Its|His|Her|Their material endowment is composed by 25 trucks, 53 light vehicles, 34, 9 nodrisses, pumpers 9, 2 snowploughs, machines 2 transports caterpillar advanced (TOA) and 11 dogs of rescue|ransom. These animals, specialized in research and rescue|ransom, are certified with the superior|upper level of qualification and can collaborate without the activation of the UME in those circumstances that can require its|his|her|their intervention.

At national level, the UME has 3.525 cash, of which more of 6% (214) are women. Regarding technical mechanisms: there are 17 amphibious airplanes, 7 helicopters, 138, 321 light vehicles, trucks 171, 42 nodrisses, pumpers 78, 14 snowploughs, machines 12 transports caterpillar battleships (TOA), 44 dogs of rescue|ransom and 1.000 squares|posts to constitute camps for victims.

The meeting has been|served for bringing the satisfaction to light for the collaboration between both organizations|organisms and starting to plan the next season guaranteeing, thus, one of the mandates of you MAKE them (the armed forces): the duty of preserving the security|certainty and the civic welfare|well-being in the suppositions from severe risk, catastrophe, calamity or other public needs. This mission is assumed by the UME by virtue of that the Government approved in 2005.
